Learn
to Surf!
Ocean Eco Tours, Kona's first surf school, was created
in 1996 and is now responsible for thousands of people
learning how to surf. All surf instruction is tailored
to you with our ultimate goal of getting you up and
riding waves on your very first day. We will teach you
about Hawaiian waters and about the sea in general.
Lessons are a great way to interact with Mother Nature
in her environment. All surf classes are held in mild
crystal clear surf and our staff is trained to ensure
your surfing experience is safe, fun, and educational.
Our classes are small - 8 persons max - giving
you plenty of time to catch waves. Private surf lessons
are available for the surfer who wants to maximize their
in-the-water time.
 Surfing:
Sport of Hawaiian Kings has been part of Hawaiian
culture for thousands of years. What better way to experience
the Hawaiian lifestyle than to be able to ride waves?
At Ocean Eco Tours, we have taught and turned thousands
of wanna-be surfers into real wave-riders since we started
the first surf school in the Kona area in 1996.
Our
instructors are highly experienced and well rounded
watermen and women thoroughly rehearsed in CPR, First
Aid, & lifesaving skills.
Our astounding success rate is proof of our "bound
and determined" attitude to proper fundamental
and hands-on instruction.
We offer 2 sessions everyday, either 8:30 or 11:30 check-in
at our shop at Honokohau Marina/Harbo. Here we set up
surfers with their gear, booties and rashguards and
size them up with an appropriate surfboard. It's
then off to the beach for a thorough and comprehensive
talk about water safety and the ocean/wave conditions.
The
biggest part of a successful surf is wave selection.
Our instructor's keen surf experience gets the surfer
on the right wave and at the right time for the ride
of a lifetime.
Our
surf sessions run 2 - 3 hours and we run every day.
